Surgeon Profile
Welcome to my website.
I established The Breast Centre in 1999 to provide comprehensive
care for all breast problems. I work closely with a team of
specialists including pathologists, radiologists, oncologists
and plastic surgeons to provide my patients with the best possible
care. Many of this team have worked together for more than
seventeen years providing a wealth of shared knowledge and
experience.
I have a special interest in the role of ultrasound in improving
breast assessment, and have attended, and run training courses on
the use of ultrasound by surgeons. I have been awarded the
Certificate in Clinician performed ultrasound by ASUM that
recognises suitable training and competence in breast
ultrasound.

I have attended international conferences on breast cancer
surgery, breast reconstruction and oncoplastic surgery and have
been able to incorporate many of these principles into my practice.
I have extensive experience in all aspects of breast surgery.
I graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1982, and was
awarded my General Surgical Fellowship in 1992. I moved to New
Zealand with my family in 1994. I am married to Rose and we have
two adult sons. Shane has completed his medical degree in Auckland
and has now joined Craig in managing a computer software
company called Language Perfect that
they developed ten years ago. They are part of an amazing
transformation in education using online learning to personalise
learning.
When away from the office I enjoy sailing, snorkelling and
exploring the South Pacific.
