Other Treatments

This refers to all treatments that make you feel better and that can potentially help your recovery.

  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Acupuncture
  • Massage therapy
  • Pilates

Many people decide to take non-prescription medication to try to help with their treatment. It is important to inform your doctors of anything that you are using as some of these preparations can interfere with your surgery or chemotherapy.
Alternative treatments

When cancer results seem bad and the outlook is poor it is understandable to want to try virtually anything to improve the odds. Unfortunately one is very vulnerable in this situation. Some of the therapies available are very costly and may not have much evidence of benefit. I suggest that you discuss any of these options carefully. Remember to ask the practitioner for evidence of efficacy and to check on side effects.
